Bridget's Keys To Happiness

Week O'Fun

We've had an exceptionally fun week around here.  All the fun began on Monday after my third and final dentist appointment in a month's time.  :)  That's a good reason to celebrate, right?!  Anna was kind of enough to baby-sit my kids while I was at the dentist so after lunch at her house we all packed up and went to the Milwaukee Public Museum.  It is free to Milwaukee County residents on Mondays and neither of us had been there, so we decided to take advantage of the opportunity.

It was a pretty cool place.  We obviously went through it pretty quickly, considering we had three kids in tow, but it was fun nonetheless.

Marshall and the cougar.  :)

Marshall and his awkward smile, in a cocoon, with Bridget's doll.  He will love this when he is 18.
The next fun event was on Thursday evening.  Marshall was able to tag-along with Duncan to Grace's 6th birthday party at The Big Backyard.  Marshall had a ball.  He and Duncan were just chased around by a bunch of screaming six year old girls; they loved it.

Not the best picture, but oh well, still cute boys.
The fun continued on Friday morning as we hit up Monkey Joe's.  Richard had the day off (he was working that night), so we took advantage of it.  Both Marshall and Bridget were constantly on the move for the 90 minutes we were there.  It was so fun.  Marshall was on a bunch of different toys, but Bridget has her usual favorite slide that Richard and I took her down probably 50 times.

This cracked me up.  Towards the end Bridget was getting a little tired.  She just plopped down here right in front of her favorite toy to take a little breather.  This lasted less than 30 seconds.  :)

I did have grand plans to take the kids to the zoo on Saturday seeing as Richard would either be at work or sleeping that day.  But, the weather completely foiled that plan and I wasn't about to venture to an indoor kid place on a rainy Saturday.  Those two things equal lots of crowds and I wasn't about to pay for it and go at it alone!  So, instead we opted for a day at home, a lazy morning, and fun in my bed.

What?! An ipad! You've got to be kidding me!

This may possibly be my favorite quote of the month, maybe even the year. A little background first...

Richard bought an ipad on Tuesday with the assurance to me that this was completely an educational tool. We'll see. Marshall would spend 24 hours a day on the itouch or the iphone if we let him. In fact, on Monday night Marshall threw an enormous temper tantrum because he had reached his allotment of tv/iwhatever time. Richard said that Marshall would never know we had an ipad because he would never pull it out when the kids were awake. Well, that lofty goal lasted less than 24 hours. On Wednesday afternoon Marshall walked into our bedroom where Richard was with the ipad. From the kitchen I heard the following...

Marshall: "What?! An ipad! You've got to be kidding me!"

Richard quickly tried to fumble around and hide it, but was unsuccessful. Of course the next words out of Marshall's mouth were to play with the ipad. Richard told him that it is just for daddy's work. This is what Marshall said next...

Marshall: "Well, I don't like ipads. I only like iphones."

We're in trouble.

Random Moments

I adore this little girl. Look at that face. Darling.

Wanting so badly to be outside. Don't worry, I plopped her outside with the boys as soon as I snapped these pictures.

A moment of fleeting happiness between the siblings. Had to capture it.

Marshall's newly discovered play area.

Putting a bookshelf together with two little kids around is not an easy task.

Look Who's Walking!

Little Bridget finally decided that walking was much better than crawling. Here she is in action.

One funny thing that I always want to remember...

Back in January we had the Hassells over for dinner. That night, while we were all gathered in the living room, Bridget started going from sitting to standing all by herself. A few weeks later the Hassells were over again for dessert. That night Bridget started letting go of the couch and taking one step before falling down. After seeing this we thought that she would pick up walking just a few days later. Not so! She needed to wait for another Hassell visit! Two weeks ago the Hassells came over to visit one night and Bridget surprised us all by taking five steps and she hasn't looked back since! This clearly shows that the Hassells are the good luck charm, either that or she is trying to impress baby Max, the boy we all want her to marry. :)

Easter Festivities

I think we went a little overboard with Easter this year. Our kids got four visits from the Easter Bunny. Oh boy. After the fourth visit from this little bunny Marshall exclaimed, "The Easter Bunny has given me everything!" Yes, I could see how he would think that.

Here's how it all played out:

Visit #1: Playgroup (see previous post)

Visit #2: Friday evening Easter gifts. No photos to document this. :)
Richard had to work all Easter weekend and didn't want to miss out on all the fun. So, in the middle of dinner on Friday night Richard decided the Easter Bunny was going to deliver Marshall and Bridget's gifts early. Marshall got Sid, the plane from "Cars 2" and Bridget got two books.

Visit #3: Saturday morning Easter baskets!

Somebody was very excited about this!

Her eggs were full of Puffs; she was thrilled!

Visit #4: Saturday Easter Egg Hunt

When I was growing up I always woke up to eggs scattered all over the yard because the Easter Bunny visited at night. But, with rabbits, squirrels, a fox, and deer freely roaming our yard, I didn't trust the eggs out overnight. :) So, we had a mid-morning visit from the Easter Bunny. Bridget was napping for all of this fun, but Marshall sure had a ball.

Later that afternoon we took a trip to the hospital to visit Richard and deliver some Easter treats to him. It was a five minute visit as he went from one patient to the next, but we enjoyed it.

As a funny side note, after we got home from the hospital this is what Bridget discovered. I am not kidding, she found this and put it on all by herself. Very observant.

Sunday morning, of course, brought new Easter outfits for church. But, because I was on my own and we had to be to church early, these are the only pictures I snapped. This year Bridget was the one not cooperating.

Isn't that dress just adorable?! Thanks Grandma Laura! She got compliment after compliment at church. I will definitely be getting more pictures of her in this dress; I have to do it justice!

One more try...Marshall even offered to hold her for this one, yeah, that didn't go so well. Oh well, good try Marshall!

We finally got around to dying the Easter eggs on Tuesday. Marshall loved it.

Despite all of these Easter Bunny visits, we still remembered the real reason that we have Easter. How grateful we are for our Savior, Jesus Christ, and His sacrifices for us.
