August Wrap-Up

My monthly edition of random pictures from the month.

This little gal has become incredibly attached to Richard this summer.  On this particular night she cried herself to sleep waiting for him to come home.  :(

After three long weeks, Bridget was finally reunited with Max.  They celebrated by dressing up like princesses, heels and all.  Love Max's heels and Bridget's pose.

The last week of summer we finally had a preschool get-together with some of our favorite preschool friends.  It was such a fun day.

These two, best friends, and worst enemies all at the same time.  

Lake Geneva

The last Friday of summer Anna and I drove one hour to Lake Geneva and spent the day there.  I am sad to say that it took me eight years to finally make it to Lake Geneva, but I am so glad we finally did it!  I would say it was one of my top five summer days.  

We began our day at the Geneva Lake Museum.  This place had rave reviews online, it only cost us $7 because all the kids were free, and the museum was SO kid friendly.  My kids just had a ball and we spent almost two hours there.  I would 100% recommend this place!

The first thing the docent showed the kids was this beautiful painting.  She even let them touch it!  She had them count the people, boats, and animals.  

Next she had us sit at this big beautiful table with fancy chairs and a big fancy light above it.  They were enamored.  

Next stop was the hat room.  So many hats for all the kids to try on.  Max and Marshall did not want to participate in this activity, but the others sure looked cute.  Please excuse Rachel's binky, she was sick and wouldn't give it up that morning.

Rachel found this doll buggy, with a porcelain doll inside.  The docent let Rachel push it all over the museum the entire time we were there!  Both my mom and I grew up playing with a doll buggy just like this.  So sweet. 

Marshall loved this old post office.

The old fire truck was also a huge hit.

After the museum we had lunch and bought delicious ice cream at Kilwins.  Yum, yum, yum.

This kid loves Blue Moon anything.

After lunch we walked about two miles on the Geneva Lake Shore Path.  This path goes all 21 miles around the lake, but obviously the kids weren't up for that.  It takes you right along the lake, but also through the backyards of everyone who lives right there.  Gorgeous lake, gorgeous homes, gorgeous scenery.  Loved it!

We wrapped up our day with a sign of affection.  These two.  I really hope they get married.

A Ride On The Trolley

We fit a lot in the last week of summer, including almost an entire day downtown.  We met up with some new friends and caught the $1 trolley at 11:00 and took the loop around the city listening to the history.  The kids were extra cute that day.  Marshall and Bridget both brought their own sunglasses and carried around their own lunches.  Extra grown up.  :)

On the second loop we decided to get off at the Metro Market for some delicious bakery items.  Excellent choice!  The kids got these amazingly decorated and amazing tasting sugar cookies.  Never mind that they ate these before lunch.  :)

After lunch we went back to catch the trolley, but found out one had just passed and we would have to wait 20 more minutes on the street corner.  That was not too appealing with six kids, so we decided to walk and catch the trolley somewhere else.  We ended up turning down a pretty quiet residential street and it took us all the way to the Lakefront.  It was perfect!  We even found Marshall Street; Marshall was delighted!

We also visited the War Memorial.  Never done that before!  

Next stop was the art museum.  We were able to go into the lobby without having to pay.  I have always loved that view.

Before we knew it, the afternoon was almost done and we had to get to Meet The Teacher Night at school!  We caught the trolley at the art museum and wrapped up a wonderful, wonderful day.  We love this city!
