Dancing in silence...

This kid definitely has energy and rhythm. He always dances to music, but yesterday morning he just started dancing around the living room without music. how modern. :)

Feeling Old...

Let me just begin with a disclaimer here...I am 26 years old and while I know 26 is still on the young side I've had a few experiences lately that have made me realize that time really is ticking away!

In my mind I feel like I am 18 or 19 years old. I feel like I can go and do anything just like when I was a teenager. Two weeks ago I ran four miles with a friend. I had not been running since the middle of November and here I was in February running four miles. While I was running I had two thoughts: 1) this is so great that I am running four miles at my half-marathon pace without having run for the last 2 1/2 months and 2) I wonder how old I will be when I can no longer suddenly go out and run four miles one day.

Well, the morning after my run I could barely move. :) The soreness got worse as the day went on and I had lingering soreness for the next five days! But, the good news is, I did the same run just this last Saturday and I haven't been sore at all! I guess I still have it in me. :)

Next point...we have been watching the Olympics every night. I am shocked when the athletes take off their hoods, goggles, etc. to reveal such young looking faces and then I find out that they are 19 years old! What?! I have vivid memories of watching the Olympics as a young girl and wanting to be Kristi Yamaguchi when I grew up or wanting to be the gymnasts from the 1996 Olympics. I always admired these athletes and while I still admire them today it is weird to think that many of them are younger than me!

Last point...Richard and I had our first kiss on February 15, 2004. The other day I reminded him of this anniversary and then did the math to realize that our first kiss was six years ago-ahhh!!! Where is the time going?

Its inevitable-I really am getting older, as is everybody. One day I really will be too old to do everything I want to do. But, until then, I will enjoy everything I can and love everything I experience, even all the aches and pains that come with age. :)

Picture Time

Today I took Marshall to The Picture People to get some new pictures taken. I LOVE this place. They don't charge a sitting fee and I only go when I get a coupon for free pictures. I only spend a little bit of money, but I get darling pictures.

Unfortunately, Marshall wasn't too into smiling as soon as the photographer pulled out her camera so we spent the majority of our time doing crazy things to get him to even look at the camera. But, she did get some cute shots and now we have a new picture of Marshall to put in the living room. Click on the link below to see the pictures. The Domes

Yesterday I took Marshall to the Milwaukee Botanical Domes. They have three domes and we spent all of our time in this one; their show dome, it was full of model trains.

The Domes are free to Milwaukee County residents on Mondays from 9:00-12:00, a major perk! We went once last year and it was packed and not really any fun. We were supposed to go last week for playgroup, but with Marshall being sick we had do pass. So, with an open Monday morning yesterday we decided to get out and check out the trains. Fortunately, it was not crowded at all and Marshall had great views of the trains and plenty of room to run around.

He loved the trains and has now mastered saying "choo-choo".

Besides all the train watching, Marshall did a lot of running around. There was a path around the entire garden and Marshall took to running laps and loved it.

It was a fun little outing, but too short. I think we will definitely be making another FREE visit very soon!

A Hodge-Podge of Events

For those of you who follow this blog, sorry for the hiatus, time has just gotten away from me. But, no worries, I am back and ready for a huge update...

Betty Brinn Children's Museum

A few weeks ago I took Marshall to the children's museum for playgroup. Marshall was fascinated with this little bridge; he played on it for about 20 minutes. He loved walking up it, but at first was very hesitant to go down, so he would just crawl down backwards. Eventually he got the hang of it though and cried when we had to leave. :(

Date Night/Kids Night

We have a deal with two other families in our cul-de-sac. One Friday a month each couple takes all the kids for 2 1/2 hours while the other two couples get a night out. We have been doing this since September and we LOVE it! Sure, Richard isn't a huge fan of our night to baby-sit, but its all worth it to get two date nights a month! The kids always have a great time together, and although it can be a little chaotic with four kids running around, we haven't had any major injuries yet!

The Big Backyard

A couple of weeks ago I took Marshall to "The Big Backyard". It is a huge indoor playground for kids 0-8. Marshall loved it; we will definitely have to go again!


I think this picture is so cute! We have taught Marshall how to dunk on his little basketball hoop at home and he just wanted to do the same thing on this big one. He would just stare up at the hoop and wonder how in the world he was going to get the ball up there. I lifted him up for a few dunks, but my arms had had their workout after about ten repitions. Fortunately he found these trikes and they quickly captured his attention.

A Night With Some Dancers

A couple of weeks ago my work hosted a dance convention, Project: DANCE. The three guest artists were Joshua Allen and Katee Shean from the last SYTYCD season and Cedric Gardner a top ten finalist from 2007. They had a reception the evening before the workshop so we went to socialize and meet the stars. Marshall ended up being just about as popular as the three guest artists; he sure is an adorable kid! Katee immediately fell in love with Marshall and he spent a good chunk of time with her.

Once Marshall warmed up to the crowd he started dancing around a little bit. Richard was a little worried about the whole thing, but Marshall definitely has some dancing genes in him!


A Visit From Grandpa Toney

My dad had some business in Ohio a couple of weeks ago so he made the drive up to Milwaukee. He was only with us for about 24 hours, but we still had a great time with him. He mostly watched Marshall run around the living room and throw balls, but they did get in some good Grandpa cuddle and reading time. Thanks for the visit dad-can't wait for another one!
